Remediation of Learning Differences and Disabilities
- Study Skills
- Time Management
I evaluate each student’s needs based on professional reports, teacher and parent comments, and my own observations during our initial consultation. I then create an individualized program where sessions focus on a variety of academic skills, such as improving organization and time management, various study strategies, motivation, goal setting, reading comprehension, math, and written language for your student with specific learning challenges.
Under my guidance, and through instruction, in a nurturing environment, your child can experience improved self-esteem and confidence as a learner. Also, we work together on bettering the parent-child relationship, as it pertains to school work. Students learn to advocate for themselves and take more responsibility for their learning. I also communicate with teachers and other professionals to follow your student’s progress and address new issues.
I have over thirty years of teaching experience, twenty five of them as an educational therapist in private practice in West Hartford, Connecticut. I hold a State of Connecticut Professional Educator Certificate for Comprehensive Special Education, Pre-K through Grade 12. In addition to my undergraduate degree in education and psychology from Hofstra University, I have also earned a master’s degree in special education from Tufts University.
I have made it my life’s work to help your child realize his/her academic potential and grow to become a happy, independent, and confident learner. My greatest pleasure is being a part of your child’s success.
